Double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah won the 100-metre event at the Wanda Diamond League meet in Rome, Italy today (September 17).
Thompson-Herah, running from lane 5, won the event in 10.85 seconds, the fastest time in the world this year.
Second place went to American Aleia Hobbs (11.12 seconds) while Ivory Coast’s MarieiJosee Ta Lou took third (11.14).
The race is Thompson-Herah’s first international meet of the COVID-affected season, after several performances over the distance in Jamaica.
Her previous season’s best of 10.88 seconds, trailed training partner, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce 10.86 seconds, who was the former world leader.
