An electrical fire resulted in the relocation of patients of Ward Four at the University Hospital of the West Indies, St Andrew, on Thursday evening.
It is understood that the fire was quickly contained but the administrators of the hospital moved the 18 patients on the ward for precaution. The patients and the 11 staff members, who were manning the ward, suffered no injury.
Members of the Jamaica Fire Brigade arrived on the scene quickly and cordoned off the area. The fire also resulted in restricted movements on one of the busiest corridors of the hospital.
It also affected the visiting hours at the facility with many of visitors disgruntled because of the dislocation.
