‘Escape To Last Man Peak’ to be made into motion picture

BUZZ Fam, remember that book you had to read in high school, Escape to Last Man Peak By Jean D’Costa? Well, it’s about to be made into a film.

Local film production company Have A Bawl Productions Limited is trying to get film adaptation rights for the beloved Jamaican novel.

The script was submitted to the Sundance Screenwriters’ Development Lab, where it passed the first selection round.

The story follows 10 young orphans forced from their home to escape ‘the sickness’. They set off on a dangerous cross-country journey to find refuge at Last Man Peak.

Since it was first published in 1975, Escape to Last Man Peak has been treasured by Jamaicans. It has become a staple in the curriculum for Caribbean secondary schools.
