Facebook to allow transfer of photos to Google Photos

Facebook started testing a tool on Monday (Dec 2) that lets users move their images more easily to other online services. This comes as the social media giant faces pressure from regulators to loosen its grip on data.

This new tool will allow you to transfer your photos and videos directly to competing platforms, starting with Google Photos.

The company said the new feature will be available to people in Ireland first and will be refined based on user feedback. Following this, the feature will be rolled out worldwide in the first half of 2020.

American and European regulators have been examining Facebook’s control of personal data such as image. They expressed concerns over whether the tech giant’s dominance is stifling competition and limiting choice for consumers.
