Golding congratulates Courtenay Rattray on his appointment to the UN Chef de Cabinet post

President of the People’s National Party and Leader of the Opposition, Mark Golding, has extended congratulations to Courtenay Rattray on his appointment as the Chef de Cabinet to the United Nations Secretary General, António Guterres. 

“Courtenay Rattray is one of Jamaica’s finest diplomats. He has served our country with distinction over many years, and his effectiveness at the highest level has been duly recognized by this appointment within the United Nations system,” Golding said.

Rattray is the first Jamaican to hold such high office at the United Nations.

Prior to his appointment as Chef de Cabinet, Mr. Rattray served as Jamaica’s Permanent Representative to the UN before becoming the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States. As a Diplomat in the Foreign Service, Mr. Rattray also served as Jamaica’s Ambassador to China and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Jamaica in Washington, D.C. 

Rattray has given outstanding service to Jamaica for over 30 years not only in the public sector but also in the private sector.

He was an Executive Director at Jamaica Marketing Company  and Director at Jamaica Trade and Investment Promotion Corporation, (JAMPRO).
