It’s going to cost Google’s parent company Alphabet over US$2 billion to purchase full out the company that is Fitbit.
We reported late last month that Google had expressed an interest in buying the wearables manufacturing company but now the news has been confirmed that Google now owns the company that has sold over 100 million devices.
Fitbit has struggled in recent times, with other companies joining the wearable tech scene. However, it should provide Google with the hardware needed to move into that area with a more dominant presence than they did with their Wear OS software.
The deal will also provide Google with new clients, as there are reportedly just over 28 million people who utilize Fitbit, especially when it comes to managing their health.
