The funeral for Jamaican hotel mogul Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart will be held tomorrow. The private ceremony will be attended by members of his family only, after which he will be laid to rest at his Rio Chico property in Ocho Rios, St Ann.
Stewart, the founder and chairman of the ATL Group of Companies, which includes the world-renowned Sandals and Beaches resorts, as well as the Jamaica Observer, passed away Monday night in the United States. He was 79.
His body was flown back to Jamaica on Wednesday, January 6.
His son, Adam Stewart, shared the news on Twitter.
“Welcome back home dad. For his final flight home, our pilots flew low along the north coast of Jamaica. From the shores, our incredible team members got to salute their leader from our beaches this one last time. We are so happy to have you home with us dad.”
