Eight-four-year-old Member of Parliament Lester ‘Mike’ Henry has no plans of retiring from politics. In fact, the thought hasn’t even crossed his mind.
“I will let the people decide. I do not know how you retire from politics. The reality must be that it is the people who make that decision, and the constitutional structure helps to make that decision,” said Henry a government minister and MP for Central Clarendon.
He was responding to BUZZ questions as to whether the Order of Jamaica (OJ) honour he received at the National Honours and Awards ceremony at King’s House on Monday (Oct 21) was a signal that he was opting out of politics.
Henry was honoured for 40 years of distinguished public service, political representation and public policy development.
“Obviously I feel humbled about being honoured for my service to the country and the people and I look forward to continue contributing to a better life for them,” Henry said.
