Jamaica records 154 COVID cases, the highest daily figure in over two months

Jamaica recorded 154 cases of the coronavirus over the past 24 hour, its highest daily total in more than two months.

The ages of the new cases range nine months to 98 years, according to the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

The positive results came from 812 samples tested.

No related deaths were reported in the period, leaving the island’s fatalities at 304.

Additionally, there were 140 recoveries, taking the tally to 10,973.

Eighty-four patients were noted to be hospitalised with 10 considered moderately ill and eight critically ill.

The most recent daily total to have surpassed the latest results was on October 22 when 155 cases were confirmed.

The increase follows Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton’s expressed concern that about the upward trend in numbers, particularly after the festive season.
