Jamaica records 224 new COVID-19 cases to surpass 17,000 mark

Jamaica recorded 244 coronavirus cases over the past day to push its total past the 17,000 mark.

The new positives include 98 males and 146 females, pushing the country’s total to 17,085.

The ages of the recent cases range from four months to 92 years old.

The island has reported more than 2,000 cases over the past two weeks since it crossed the 15,000 case mark on January 25.

Additionally, there was another related death, a 58-year-old male from Kingston and St Andrew. Jamaica’s fatalities now number 358.

There were 46 more recoveries for a total of 12,271 while active cases total 4,271.

There are 149 hospitalisations with 10 moderately ill and 15 considered critically ill.
