The American Athletic Conference (AAC) announced on Tuesday, November 5, that Reggae Girl Konya Plummer is its Defensive Player of the Year in the sport of football (soccer).
In her final year at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando, the St. Mary native had a stellar season – starting in 16 out of the 17 regular matches for the UCF Knights.
Plummer played a collective total of 1,485 minutes on the field, and as a major part of UCF Knights’ solid back line, was critical in the team conceding just seven goals.
“Who could it be but you lord?????. Defensive player of the year⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽,” the number six UCF Knight defender posted on her Instagram page.
The UCF Knight’s senior women’s soccer team last won the AAC title in 2017.
The AAC, also known simply as ‘The American’, is a nationwide collegiate athletic conference, featuring 12 member universities and six associate member universities that compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) Division I.
Member universities represent a range of private and public universities of various enrolment sizes located primarily in urban metropolitan areas in the northeastern, midwestern, and southern regions of the United States.
