Jamaica’s Prime Minister and MP wife get COVID-19 vaccine

Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness and his wife, Member of Parliament, Juliet Holness, have received their first shot of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine.

Holness’ vaccination comes three days after the country’s Health Minister, Dr Christopher Tufton, got his first shot, and almost two weeks after the country began its vaccination programme.

Both Holness and Tufton have repeatedly stated that they would be vaccinated in April, as they would not be jumping ahead of priority groups. However, it’s thought that public pressure for the two, who are at the helm of the nation’s virus fight, have seen them move up their shots.
