Former champions Jamaica College (JC) will tackle Hydel at the Spanish Town Prison Oval on Thursday (Oct 24) in the Digicel/ISSA Manning Cup schoolboy football competition at 3:00 pm.
The match will be the second of two that will be played at the venue with the other being St Jago battling Charlie Smith at 1:00 pm.
At Stadium East, two matches will be played. In the first match, Mona will tackle St George’s College at 2:00 pm and Excelsior will go up against Jonathan Grant 4:00 pm.
Jamaica College won Group E of the preliminary round and are primed to make another serious run for the title.
JC have won the tournament 28 times, the most by any institutions. They won five times straight before Kingston College (KC) broke the streak last year. This year, they have won 10 of their 12 matches with the blemishes being against Wolmer’s with both matches drawn 2-2. They won Group E of the preliminary round and are primed to make another serious run for the title.
Against Hydel, JC will face tough opponents, who have been to this stage of the competition consistently in recent years, going as far as the final in 2012, when they lost to St George’s College. Hydel finished as one of two best third-placed finishers. Camperdown won Group D with Mona second and Hydel third.
