J’can parents in police custody after child pronounced dead on arrival at Linstead Hospital

The parents of a child, who was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital, were taken into police custody on Tuesday (June 29).

Reports from police in St Catherine are that on Monday (June 28) a seven-year-old girl was taken to the Linstead Hospital.

According to the child’s parents, the girl was ill; however doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

The police were alerted after a examination revealed marks on the child’s body, including lacerations on the face and fingers.

Police have taken the child’s father and stepmother into custody.
