J’can pastor charged with rape after impregnating teen he met on social media

A 23-year-old Jamaican pastor has been charged with rape after he impregnated a teen he met on social media .

Jamar Harrison of John’s Town Road, Port Antonio, Portland was on Friday (June 11) charged with rape .

Reports are that the complainant, who was 13-years-old at the time, met Harrison via social media and the two eventually became intimate.

On December 1, 2020 the complainant and her grandmother were taken to the Centre For Investigation Of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) when it was revealed that the teen was pregnant.

The child’s grandmother was charged for failing to report the incident .

Following a police operation in downtown Kingston on June 7, Harrison was apprehended.

 He was charged after a question and answer interview in the presence of his attorney.

 Harrison was remanded in custody  and is to attend court on June 17.
