J’can working as prison officer in Cayman caught smuggling ganja

An employee at the Her Majesty’s Cayman Islands Prison Service (HMCIPS)was taken into police custody after he was found in possession of ganja.

Reports from Cayman police are that they were called to the prison by the Director of Prisons who informed them that the staff member was attempting to introduce the drugs into the correctional facility.

The prison officer in question has been identified by a local media entity as 39-year-old Rudolph Rambaran.

Following Rambaran’s arrest, police searched his vehicle and recovered further evidence relating to the investigation.

He is currently being held in police custody pending further investigations.

Rambaran is said to have six small children and  is originally from Portmore, Jamaica.

Prior to taking up a job at the prison, Rambaran worked with the local police service.

Rambaran also spent close to ten years working in Jamaica’s military service, prior to moving to the Cayman Islands.
