KC, Wolmer’s move into Manning Cup semis

Defending champions Kingston College (KC) advanced to the semifinals of the ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup schoolboy football competition on Tuesday as they defeated Camperdown 2-1 at Stadium East.

Kingston College was in control when they played Vauxhall High earlier in the season.

The champions join Wolmer’s Boys’ School to move into the final four from Group G, as the Heroes Circle-based Wolmer’s were leading Charlie Smith 3-0 at Ashenheim Stadium when the match was called off at halftime.

Dwayne Atkinson scored four minutes into first-half added time to provide an equalising goal for KC in the rainy encounter, and then Michael Allen got the winner in the 77th minute, after Shawn Daley had given Camperdown a 30th-minute lead.

With two teams advancing to the semifinals from the group, KC and Wolmer’s have already qualified as they are on seven points with Camperdown ending on three and Charlie Smith without a point.

Goal difference will have to decide the winner of the group. KC have a goal difference of six and Wolmer’s four. Wolmer’s will need three more goals when their match is completed to top the group. KC will advance on goals scored if both end on a goal difference of six.

Wolmer’s and KC joined St Andrew Technical and Jamaica College (JC) as the semifinalists.
