Jamaican striker Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw has signed for England Women’s Super League outfit Manchester City.
The prolific goal scorer made the switch after playing in the Division 1 Feminine side Bordeaux for the last two seasons. She finished this season as the league’s top scorer with 22 goals and guided her team to third in the table.
Her goal-scoring prowess did not go unnoticed and the 24-year-old Shaw is set to start her tenure with her new team in July on a three-year contract where she will be assigned the number 21 jersey
Speaking on the move, Shaw said; “It feels amazing to be a Manchester City player. I chose this club because I want to be a part of the environment, the culture and play for this amazing team”. She also noted that this move will be one that tests her capabilities.
She further indicated that her decision was an easy one being that she was already a fan of the club. “I grew up as a City fan and I even have some family members who live in Manchester and when I told them about my move, they were so happy and excited.”

Head coach for the team Gareth Taylor expressed his delight at Shaw joining the Club. “We’re delighted to welcome Khadija to Manchester City. She’s a very talented young player and we’re pleased that we’ve been able to add her to our already productive forward line”.
It is expected that Jamaica’s record goalscorer will be a key player in getting City back to be title winners. The last time they won was in 2016 but they have been playing runners-up for the last two seasons.
Shaw moves will see her becoming the first Jamaican woman to play in the Women’s Super League.
