Although there were cries of bias recently, the University of Technology (UTech), like the University of the West Indies (UWI), has received a grant from the Jamaica Labour Party Education Fund and the Positive Jamaica Foundation.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the $2.5 million donation to Professor Stephen Vascciane on Friday to assist needy students at the school.
“Education holds a key position in the philosophy of the Jamaica Labour Party.”

However, prior to the presentation, many Utech students bashed the Prime Minister on Thursday after he made a $1.5 million donation to UWI, claiming that they feel as if they were being left out of the equation.
Luckily, their gift came a day later.
Following the presentation at UTech, Holness made a post on Twitter, saying: “Education holds a key position in the philosophy of the Jamaica Labour Party, and this is why we established the Education Fund as a way of advancing the educational aspirations of young Jamaicans.”
