A migrant worker from the Philippines was hit with a US$3,500 fine after he set foot outside his hotel room for eight seconds. That’s roughly US$438 per second!

Reports are that the worker was quarantining in a hotel in Kaohsiung City when he briefly left the room for the hallway. He was caught on camera by hotel staff who promptly reported him.

Quarantine rules in Taiwan are strict, with people required to remain in their rooms at all times.

Though the nation has 23 million people, it has only confirmed 716 cases of the virus due to its stringent methods.
