Newcomers Molynes United’s plummet from the top of the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) continued on Sunday when they were beaten 1-0 by Humble Lion at Effortville Community Centre in Clarendon.
Jermaine Christian’s goal in the 43rd minute secured the victory for Humble Lion to carry them to 22 points. While Humble Lion moved one place up the points standing to fourth, with the win, Molynes dropped three places to seventh.
Molynes, who led the league in the early stages, have lost seven of their last nine matches, after winning their first six encounters. They are on 20 points.
Meanwhile, defending champions Portmore United’s lukewarm season continued, as they were defeated 2-1 by Dunbeholden at Spanish Town Prison Oval.
Dean-Andre Thomas scored a 14th-minute penalty to give Dunbeholden the lead with Cory Burke equalising for Portmore four minutes into first-half added time. Saneekie Burton, however, got the victory for Dunbeholden when he scored in the 42nd minute.
The champions are hovering above the relegation zone in ninth position in the standing with 18 points.
The league continues with a single match on Monday, when Arnett Gardens tackle Mount Pleasant Football Academy at Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex at 8 p.m.
