No basis for allegations against J’can politician -Police

In a release on Sunday (April 18) police revealed that they had finished investigating allegations made against former Member of Parliament of North West St Ann, Dayton Campbell.

Police say that following the investigations, they have concluded that the claims that were made by Karen Cross against the former MP had no basis.

According to police, although a formal statement was made by Cross, she provided no evidence to substantiate the claims that she made via social media.

“Neither Ms. Cross nor anyone else provided anything that could establish the allegations as credible. As such, the investigation into this matter has come to a natural end. However, if Ms Cross or any other person wishes to provide credible information about this matter at a later date, we are willing to reopen our investigations,” police said in a statement

The Jamaica Constabulary Force also used the occasion to note that they treats allegations involving the abuse of children with the greatest seriousness.
