We know that Jamaicans and visitors love the taste of conch, however, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries is calling on persons to observe the ban that is currently in effect.

They recently issued an advisory reminding all fisherfolk, traders and the public at large that the Conch Closed Season is still in effect and any breaches of the Closed Season Order will be severely penalised in accordance with the Fisheries Act 2018.

The Closed Season for queen conch runs from March 1, 2019 to January 31, 2020. During the period March 22, 2019 to January 31, 2020, it is illegal for any person to sell, process or import conch meat and/or conch opercula.
The advisory comes in light of recent reports of illegal conch fishing and therefore the Ministry is sending a very firm, unequivocal appeal and warning to all those involved to desist from breaching the regulations and to help to safeguard the livelihood of thousands of Jamaicans.
BUZZ family it’s just a few months away and we know it tastes good but let’s be patient for a bit more.
