The residents of Junction and surrounding communities in South St Elizabeth are now set to benefit from a new water supply.

This came as a result of the official commissioning of the Essex Valley Water Supply Project. The project is expected to run about J$100 million with space for future expansion throughout the parish.
Before, several residents would have benefitted from a water supply connected to bauxite company Alpart. But now, the National Water Commission has taken over responsibilities to provide water to the citizens.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness who was on hand to commission the supply, took the time to thank the bauxite company for what they had done.
According to the National Water Commission, the Essex Valley Water Supply Improvement Project will provide potable water service to thousands of residents who apply for service from Long Hill, Myersville, Warmister, Content, Stephen’s Run and Nain through to Junction and surrounding communities.
The project is set to benefit over 3,000 households in the area.
