Peter Bunting to be sworn in as Senator on Friday

Peter Bunting will be sworn in as an Opposition Senator on Friday.

Peter Bunting will be sworn in as the eighth Opposition Senator in Jamaica on Friday.

The former Cabinet minister and Member of Parliament saw his swearing in delayed two weeks ago following related issues with the previous selection, and subsequent resignation, of Norman Horne by former Opposition Leader Dr Peter Phillips.

Horne, who had initially resisted resigning to make way for Bunting, has since written to King’s House declaring his decision not to take up the post. This followed the revelation that he is still an American citizen.

Bunting will also take over as Leader of Opposition Business. He was also named Opposition spokesman on national security.
