An inmate at a prison facility in St Lucia was bitten by a snake on Thursday (December 10).

Reports are that the inmate was working on the prison farm when he was bitten by a fer-de-lance snake, which is known to be venomous.
The inmate was transported to the hospital where he is receiving treatment.
The Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF), which was opened in 2003, is said to be situated on a ‘snake infested’ area.
Director at the BCF, Hilary Herman, reported having received several fictitious reports in the past about snakes biting inmates.
