WIHCON recently awarded a scholarship and two bursaries to three third-year students pursuing degrees in civil engineering at the University of Technology (UTech).

The presentation was made last week Thursday at a special luncheon that was held at the ICD Headquarters. The event was also attended by WIHCON’s CEO, Delroy Alcott, and Chairman Peter Melhado.

Both Melhado and Alcott lauded the recipients, and they also spent time asking them about their choice of study and the challenges they have faced in financing their education.

Michael Savage, the recipient of the WIHCON Civil Engineering Scholarship Fund valued at nearly $500,000 annually, will see his tuition being covered for years three and four of his studies. The two bursary recipients, Pete Bryan and Tajay Daley, will each get $80,000 towards the cost of their books and course material.

“With all the construction and growth taking place we must invest in our future engineers, and WIHCON remains the only company offering a scholarship to students pursuing a BSc in Civil Engineering at the University of Technology. We are passionate about the growth of our people and this country,” Melhado said.
