Pretty soon, there’ll be no more TikTok in America.
President Donald Trump said he will ban the popular short-form video app TikTok from operating in the United States using emergency economic powers or an executive order.
“As far as TikTok is concerned, we’re banning them from the United States,” Trump said to reporters while aboard Air Force One.
“I have that authority,” he said.
The President made the announcement on Friday even as people within his administration were expecting him to sign an order to force ByteDance, the Chinese company that owns the social media platform, to sell the US operations of TikTok. That move was to alleviate concerns that TikTok was a security risk.
