The US embassy in Kingston has issued a statement regarding the second confirmed case of coronavirus in Jamaica.
The patient is an employee of the US Embassy, who visited the UK and returned to the island earlier this week
In its statement, the US embassy said it cannot provide any additional information. “We are aware of reports of a COVID-19 case related to an Embassy Kingston employee. Due to privacy concerns, we are not able to share additional information,” it said.
The Embassy said it’s taking the necessary measures to help control the spread of the coronavirus-COVID-19 in coordination with the Jamaican government.
“The Embassy is in the process of sanitizing the premises to prevent further outbreak,” it said.
“The U.S. Department of State has no greater responsibility than the safety and security of U.S. citizens overseas and locally-employed staff,” it added.
