Waterhouse FC battled to a 1-1 draw Thursday evening at the National Stadium with defending champions CS Herediano of Costa Rica in the Scotiabank CONCACAF League.
Andre Fletcher scored for Waterhouse in the third minute with Keyner Brown equalising in the 17th for Herediano.
The away goal gives Herediano the edge going into the second leg on August 29 in Costa Rica. Waterhouse will have to score at least one goal to be able to advance in the competition.
Fletcher, with Waterhouse protecting the goal towards the Nannyville end of the stadium, scored from a cross by Colorado Murray from the right that went behind the Herediano defence.
Minutes later, Herediano hit the right upright through Francisco Rodriquez, but eventually found the equaliser from a header by Brown, who jumped high to head a cross from the left to the far post.
The game was fairly even from then on, with the only exception being at the start of the second half, when Herediano placed Waterhouse under constant pressure with attacks.
