The RJRGLEANER Group has come out and apologized to the government over what it called a misunderstanding in relation to an article it released on Sunday morning.
The article in question suggested that Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Christopher Tufton said that some local healthcare workers had contracted the virus but it wasn’t being tallied in the overall number of COVID-19 cases recorded for the country.
Minister Tufton later indicated that this wasn’t true and a discussion was had between the Gleaner’s editorial team, the Minister and the Permanent Secretary which led to full clarity on the matter.
Following this, the RJRGleaner issued the statement indicating they have “accepted the clarifications given and apologize for any misunderstandings arising out of statements in the interview with the Minister and regret concerns our readers may have formed.”
