Wolmer’s Boys’ School opened their quarter-finals round sojourn in the ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup schoolboy football competition positively on Wednesday (Oct 30), when they defeated Camperdown 3-2 at the National Stadium.
A brace by Rivaldo Mitchell in the 25th and 78th minutes and a single strike by Ronald Webster enabled Wolmer’s to lead Group A in the quarter-finals.
Camperdown, who got goals from Shaqueil Bradford in the 60th and Tivelle Edwards in the 63rd, sit at the bottom of the standing of Group A, which also comprises defending champions Kingston College and Charlie Smith.
Wolmer’s soaked up the early pressure of Camperdown before scoring twice to enter the half-time break leading 2-0, with Camperdown roaring back early in the second half to level the score, with two quick goals.
Wolmer’s, however, found the winner when Orlando Russell weaved his way through the Camperdown defence before passing to Mitchell, who tapped into an unprotected goal.
