St Catherine Football Association (SCFA) presidential hopeful, Elaine Walker-Brown, is promising to win over sponsors for the various competitions throughout the parish, after being elected.
The election is set for October 20 when Walker-Brown will face off against Ricardo Valentine, who is the current vice president of the SCFA. Walker-Brown is the chairman of the Jamaica Football Federation’s (JFF) Women’s Football Committee.
Walker-Brown’s slate is completed by Curven Whyte, first vice president; Ventley Brown, second vice president; Sophia Smith, general secretary; Raymond Brown, treasurer; and Patrick Dunkley, assistant secretary/treasurer.
According to Walker-Brown, she has worked extensively in the parish for many years and has seen the pitfalls that the current administration, which Valentine is a part of.
She said, her team will use good governance and transparency, while assisting the clubs to write proposals for grants, which will help in their development. Walker-Brown said that her slate will also change the competitions’ format in the parish, while eliminating the Under-20 age-group contest, as she argues that at that stage, the young men should be playing in their respective club men’s team.
