Jamaica’s former World Athletic Championships 100 metres winner Yohan Blake will rekindle his love for cricket between December 1 and 5 when he travels to India to help to promote the Road Safety World Series – a T20 cricket event to be held in India next year.
The event will be used to promote road safety and will attract world-renowned retired stars in various sports, but mainly from cricket. Some of the persons who are expected to be part of the initiative are Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag of India; Brian Lara of the West Indies; and Jonty Rhodes of South Africa.
The first season of the league will be played in February in Mumbai and Pune in India, but Blake will participate in a number of promotional activities in December in Mumbai to create awareness about road safety in the country.
Blake has had a love affair with cricket, as it was his sport of choice while attending St Jago High School. However, his success in track and field at the institution made him stick with athletics.
He has, however, played in a many charity cricket matches all over the world.
